Litha – Summer Solstice 2013

Here’s wishing everyone a most joyous and auspicious Summer Solstice.  Litha is the longest day of the year and is to be celebrated. An ancient  One ancient Celtic ritual was to shoot a flaming arrow into the rising Sun on Litha, to add fire to fire.

Bonfires are lit all over the world. The Sun is our ultimate giver of life and it’s symbols are among the earliest ever discovered. The chart above is set for Pacific Time: Houses will differ according to Time Zone

  1. Happy Summer Solstice! What an interesting chart. I am trying not to spoil the mood of celebration, but should we be worried that the Moon is void of course (assuming one does not consider the inconjunct with Jupiter as an aspect), and that the Sun is moving from a conjunction with Jupiter, who has dignity by triplicity, even while in detriment, to a trine with a retrograde, peregrine Saturn (in the rather grumpy sign of Scorpio, to boot). The Moon’s last aspect being the trine with Mercury and Venus in Cancer seems nice though! Maybe it will just mean a nice pleasant and uneventful summer! Wouldn’t that be nice?

In any case, thank you for the lovely bonfire and celebration song!

  2. All infirmities duly noted prior to posting. I didn’t read it here because the chart was meant first and foremost as a courtesy to readers and perhaps provoke some discussion

My first concern was to mark the occasion and send out some good thoughts.

A wise woman once told me that even if the very worst comes to pass, the worrying will have been a waste of time :) This is where some form of ritual or prayer comes into play.

Some form of invocation of the Sun, the ultimate source of life on Earth should occur particular at this time. We are made of stardust, after all
